Sync and licensing basics

The records and agreements behind a music license.

Register

Keep a dated record of the recording and the people claiming rights in it. A registry records a claim; it does not assign ownership.

License

Agree on permitted uses with the relevant rights holders. Keep the signed permission and the exact recording it covers together.

Collect

Record the agreed splits, payment schedule and reporting duties. Follow the licensing agreement and the distributor or administrator handling payment.

The proof package

Each step on this page leaves a document, and the registry's walkthrough for musicians keeps them in one folder per song: the exact registered audio, untouched; the asset hash and transaction link; the signed split sheet that matches the declared splits; credits with legal names, roles and contributor wallets; and any agreements for samples, features or usage. When a distributor, supervisor or collaborator asks a rights question, you answer with a folder.

Where the license itself lives

The license is negotiated and signed between the parties, off the registry. The registry record is the evidence you bring to that conversation: the fingerprint of the exact file, the signed claim, the contributors and the timestamp.
